About
Licensed in California
If you have found yourself on the margins, or have experienced rejection or isolation, I am here for you. The confluence of my lived experience and my professional experience have forged an area of concentration in this work. I work with clients from all cultural backgrounds; ethnic multiplicity; current life transitions (career, relationship, life stage); trauma (specialization in grief/loss, intergenerational transmission, developmental/childhood trauma) and social trauma (ie. bullying). I have a passion for working with members of the LGBTQ+ community, members of the chronic illness community, veterans and aging/elders. My therapeutic style varies based on my client’s needs and often combines the benefits of CBT, DBT, ACT and mindfulness. I tend to operate from a more holistic and nurturing stance, validating what my clients have learned about themselves and how they would like to make positive changes through the therapy process.
Making the decision to start working with a therapist can be overwhelming. I respect this and add value to our conversations by ensuring a safe, nurturing space, without holding any bias and/or judgement. You are the driver, I am just here to help put you back on the road after you have hit a few bumps along the way. I invite you to reach out.
I am a Registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT #131641) in the state of CA. Alongside my work in private practice, I also volunteer at various animal sanctuaries and an equine therapy farm, exploring how the healing nature of horses can transform one’s own mental health journey. Most recently, I began working as a Resource Associate at Teen Line, which is in partnership with Cedars Sinai and Didi Hirsch Mental Health Services. I received my Master of Arts degree in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University and prior to that, graduated from Antioch University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology with a minor in Addiction Studies. Prior to my current work in private practice, I began my clinical training at Antioch Community Therapy Services (ACTS), where I spent one year serving diverse populations of adults at no-cost therapy during the COVID-19 pandemic. I also continued my clinical training at APLA Health, where I worked mostly with adult gay men that had co-morbidities of chronic illnesses such as HIV. My fascination with the mental health world came at a very early age. During childhood, I lived in a constant shadow of fear, regret, and shame. It wasn’t until these factors took a toll on my mental health, that I decided to do something and turn my life around. This in turn motivated me to advocate for the mental health and welfare of others that shared the same communities.
As a trauma-informed, Gottman Couples Method Levels 1 & 2 trained therapist, some of my specialized interests include navigating the LGBTQ community and adults encountering aging/elder issues and working with individuals living with chronic illness. I am committed to helping this unique population build healthier relationships, targeting ineffective behaviors, habits, and beliefs that are present in one’s daily life. Working collaboratively with my clients, I prioritize an effective customization of my therapeutic approach uniquely for each client in order to optimize treatment goals. I am also passionate about utilizing pet/animal assisted therapy in my therapeutic practice and encourage exploration of how human identification with animals can be emotionally, psychologically, and physiologically beneficial.
