Trauma & PTSD

Healing is Possible
From Trauma

Trauma lives in the body, the nervous system, and the relational world. It does not simply fade with time — but it does respond to the right treatment. At The Mindful Lemon, trauma-informed care is not just a phrase. It is the foundation of everything we do.

Overview

Understanding Trauma & PTSD

Post-traumatic stress disorder, complex trauma, childhood abuse and neglect, sexual trauma, accidents, medical trauma, and the cumulative effects of chronic stress — all leave their mark in ways that extend far beyond the original event. Trauma changes how the nervous system responds, how the mind interprets safety, and how relationships feel possible.

Our trauma treatment begins with safety and stabilization — because healing cannot happen when the nervous system is overwhelmed. From that foundation, we move through processing and integration using evidence-based approaches including EMDR, trauma-focused CBT, and somatic-informed interventions. The pace is always yours to set.

When To Seek Help

  • Trauma symptoms are interfering with daily life or relationships
  • You experience flashbacks, nightmares, or intrusive memories
  • You feel chronically unsafe even in objectively safe environments
  • You are using substances or self-harm to manage trauma symptoms

Intrusive memories or flashbacks
Hypervigilance and startle response
Feelings of shame or self-blame
Nightmares and sleep disturbance
Emotional numbness or detachment
Irritability or angry outbursts
Avoidance of trauma reminders
Dissociation or feeling unreal
Treatment Approaches

Evidence-Based Care for Trauma & PTSD

Every treatment approach is grounded in the Lemon Reset™ framework and adapted to your specific diagnosis, severity, and goals.

EMDR Therapy

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing — evidence-based trauma processing that reduces the emotional charge of traumatic memories without requiring extensive verbal recounting.

Trauma-Focused CBT

Structured cognitive processing that addresses the beliefs, meanings, and thought patterns trauma creates — particularly effective for PTSD.

Somatic-Informed Approaches

Body-based interventions that address trauma stored in the nervous system — building a sense of safety and embodiment that purely cognitive approaches cannot reach.

DBT for Trauma

Dialectical Behavior Therapy skills that build the distress tolerance and emotional regulation needed to safely engage in trauma processing work.

Family Systems Work

Addressing the relational impact of trauma — particularly complex childhood trauma — on family dynamics and attachment patterns.

Safety Planning

Comprehensive safety planning integrated into trauma care — ensuring the therapeutic environment and the client’s life outside of sessions are as safe as possible.
